Complete Ear Surgery Course
This two day course is a combination of short lectures and practical hands on sessions using cadaveric material aimed at Senior Trainees and Consultants in Otolaryngology. The course will offer the unique opportunity to learn and perform the following soft tissue techniques:
‘Island’ and ‘butterfly’ graft tympanoplasty
Pinnaplasty
Mid temporal flap
Temporoparietal flap
Modified radical mastoidectomy and obliteration
Conchomeatoplasty techniques
blind sac closure with middle ear implant
This course is designed to enable the participants to go through each procedure step by step and perform them on fresh frozen cadaveric heads. Each procedure will be introduced with a 15 minute ‘Step by step’ lecture followed by an opportunity to perform the procedure on fresh frozen cadaveric heads under the supervision of experts in the field
Suitability
Senior Trainees and Consultants in Otolaryngology
Relevant Grade: ST3, ST4, ST5, ST6, ST7, ST8, Consultant
Course Format

Canal wall down mastoidectomy
Conchomeatoplasty
‘Island’ and ‘Butterfly’ graft tympanoplasty
Pinnaplasty
Mid temporal and Temporoparietal flaps
Mastoid cavity obliteration
blind sac closure with middle ear implants
