This one day meeting has been designed for specialist and general otolaryngologists, speech and language therapists and gastroenterology clinicians who manage patients with chronic throat and voice symptoms. This will follow the successful format of the 2011 evidence based symposium, Extra-Oesophageal Reflux: separating fact from fiction. It will revisit and review updated evidence on a broad range of topics to include symptom profiles, interventions and management options for these patients.

We will also annouce the results and conclusions from the TOPPITS trial (Trial of Proton Pump Inhibitors in Throat Symptoms). The TOPPITS trial is an NIHR funded multicentre, randomised, placebo-controlled trial assessing symptom response to BD lansoprazole.

The aim of the meeting is to improve clinicians’ management of this patient population whilst also aiming to define the research priorities for the future.
