The course includes…….
> advanced clinical examination including head impulse testing in three planes, heave test, horizontal and vertical head shake
> advanced laboratory testing
> Peripheral vestibular disorders resulting in unilateral and bilateral vestibular loss (neuronitis, labyrinthitis, otoxicity, Meniere’s syndrome, idiopathic causes)
> BPPV: differential diagnosis and treatment, tips for difficult cases
> central disorders: cerebellar degeneration, migraine, MS
> rehabilitation: when to refer, who to refer, what to expect. Management of complex unilateral and bilateral vestibular loss
Strengths of the course include the expert faculty, the emphasis on small group work to gain practical experience and the active involvement of patients in the teaching programme. The residential nature of the course makes for a truly immersive learning experience.
