Glasgow - United Kingdom
12 Dec 2012 - 12 Dec 2012
(6 Places available) – Thank you for interest in attending the Temporal Bone Anatomy Days which I organise in the Anatomy Department of Glasgow University. While these are primarily aimed at West of Scotland trainees I am happy for others to attend. The system is that each trainee is given a half head and this half head is labelled and kept in the Anatomy Department. The trainee then comes back as many days as is required to complete all the surgical dissections. This usually takes at least 3 days for each bone. The manual contains 3 different programmes for 3 temporal bones. I supply a hard copy of manual at first visit, also available electronically. Your manual should be taken to you RITA. Once the manual is completed then you will awarded a Certificate to demonstrate that you have done every conceivable otological procedure. Anatomy specimens are a valuable resource and in order to ensure that each specimen is fully utilised I ask trainees from outside the West of Scotland to pay for 3 days in advance although they may book the days at leisure. The cost per day is 130GBP payable in advance. Cheques should be made out to -Surgical Anatomy Fund- and posted directly to the Ann Marie Mellish the Anatomy Secretary, Anatomy Department, Glasgow University, University Avenue, GLASGOW G12 8QQ. All bookings should be made through the Anatomy Secretary by email at [email protected] Her contact phone number is 0141 330 4296 but it should be noted that she works mornings only from 9am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday. The slots tend to be booked 2 to 3 months in advance. – Payment is necessary in order to obtain a firm booking. It is very difficult to fill slots at short notice and therefore unless you are able to obtain a colleague to fill a slot, bookings will be regarded as a firm commitment. – Anatomy Dept is accessed via Main Gate on University Avenue. No parking available in grounds. Start time is 9ish and finish about 5ish. Lunch supplied. Dress Casual. I supply gloves, gowns and goggles.
