The University of Toronto and Hospital for Sick Children’s Toronto International Endoscopic Ear Surgery Course is intended for otologists and pediatric otolaryngologists with a desire to provide state of the art ear surgery. There is a special focus on pediatric ear disease but surgical principles and techniques are applicable to all patients.
The course is run in the renowned University of Toronto Surgical Skills Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital and the new Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning at The Hospital for Sick Children.
The first day of the course will feature lectures from a distinguished panel of international otologists and a live surgery demonstration. The second day is devoted entirely to hands-on surgical dissection with a station equipped with endoscopes and drills for each delegate. Two ears are available for dissection from whole, lightly-preserved cadaveric heads with additional temporal bones available on request. Techniques for tympanoplasty, atticoantrostomy, KTP laser and ossiculoplasty will be taught and practiced. Access to a dry lab is also available for BAHA training and advanced cochlear implant electrode insertion in pediatric models. Please also let us know if you have any special requests for this course as we may be able to accommodate additional areas of interest.
Refreshments are provided during course hours, including breakfast, mid-morning and afternoon breaks, and lunch. A course dinner will also be provided on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
