The system is that each trainee is given a half head and this half head is labelled and kept in the Anatomy Department. The trainee then comes back as many days as is required to complete all the surgical dissections. This usually takes at least 3 days for each bone. The manual contains 3 different programmes for 3 temporal bones. I supply a hard copy of manual at first visit, also available electronically. Your manual should be taken to you RITA. Once the manual is completed then you will awarded a Certificate to demonstrate that you have done every conceivable otological procedure. Anatomy specimens are a valuable resource and in order to ensure that each specimen is fully utilised I ask trainees from outside the West of Scotland to pay for 3 days in advance although they may book the days at leisure.
