Several years ago, we initiated an educational project aimed to fit the high-level expectations of selected surgeons, namely otolaryngologists and neurosurgeons, that were working together in dealing with sinonasal and skull base pathologies and interested in developing minimally invasive endoscopic approaches to treat such complex diseases.

Our experience began in 2005 thanks to the close friendship of a group of colleagues who met in Pittsburgh to share their own experiences on endoscopic approaches to the skull base. They could not even imagine that from that meeting, a working group would be born that is still operating and expanding today… Please allow us to share the joy that we feel for the successful accomplishments that we have achieved with our hard work over these years!

Many things have happened and a lot of events have occurred since that distant 2005, but our passion and our devotion have never changed. A testimony of this was the last Congress organized in Milan by the EndoWorld group in 2014. The EndoMilano Congress directed by Paolo Castelnuovo, Davide Locatelli, Ernesto Pasquini and Giorgio Frank was truly an unforgettable event. There were many reasons for the success of this particular edition. We hosted participants from 78 different nations who had travelled from across the globe, at considerable cost, battled jet-lag, in order to learn about the new boundaries of endoscopic surgery, sweat through the technical considerations that besiege our daily operations, and learn new methods of thinking about established dogma. The format of the Congress was highly challenging and complex, including intensive lectures, panel discussions and instructional courses together with live dissection demonstrations. We wholeheartedly thank the many of you who personally expressed their gratitude to the group for creating such an excellent educational opportunity as well as for the warm, international, positive atmosphere throughout the meeting. We are very proud to have come up to the participants’ expectations! But, above all else, we enjoyed meeting old friends, making new ones, and building bridges to far flung parts of the globe. These new relationships will form the basis for further growth and development, and create the atmosphere that makes the EndoWord Congresses so unique!

For all these reasons, we would like to encourage you to join us in Chicago, IL, USA, for the EndoChicago meeting, to be held in May 15-18, 2016, directed by Ric Carrau, Danny Prevedello, Amin Kassam, Vijay Anand, Theodore Schwartz, James Evans & Marc Rosen. This amazing edition of the EndoWord Congress promises to be the most exciting event in 2016 in the field of endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery, featuring world renowned speakers, an enhanced scientific programme, a cadaver dissection segment, exciting discussions and networking with friends and colleagues from all around the globe. The website will be updated in the coming weeks in order to provide you all the details regarding the preliminary programme, congress location and registration procedures. If you wish to share your thoughts and to suggest something new for the upcoming EndoChicago meeting or to improve and expand the EndoWorld project, email your contributions and ideas to the EndoWorld Project scientific coordinators.

Moreover, if you enjoyed our events and courses and thought it was worthwhile, we encourage you to spread the news among your colleagues so to inspire the international education and growth of endoscopic skull base surgery.

Finally, thank you again for sharing with us the outstanding experience of the EndoWorld Project. As you know, the EndoWorld Project is not a Society or a hierarchical Organization but it is only a group of colleagues and friends, targeted to improve patient care in minimally invasive endoscopic skull base surgery by providing the highest level of education currently available on our planet. We look forward to more frequent and positive interchanges in the years to come. Your attendance and cooperation to such a project will help us in improving our activities and will act as a significant step towards the right direction.
