Advanced Temporal Bone Surgery Course (2 1/2 day)

This 2 ½ day course, held in the Cuschieri Skills Centre, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, is suitable for ST3 grades or above, but consultants are welcome. Course participants, will be supervised by trainers with a ratio of 1:2. The course will consist of 2 ½ days of dissection, an evening of lecturers and a course dinner. The temporal bone dissection facilities in the Skills Centre are some of the best equipped in the country.

The programme will include training in all aspects of temporal bone dissection including:

• Canalplasty
• Atticotomy
• Attico-antrostomy
• Modified Radical Mastoidectomy
• Posterior Tympanotomy
• Oto-endoscopy
• Labyrinthectomy
• Translabyrinthine approach to the internal auditory meatus
• Endolymphatic sac decompression
• Jugular Fossa Exploration
• Ossiculoplasty.

Progression through the dissection will be performed under close supervision of trainers and paced at an appropriate level to the participant. The extent of dissection, and other procedures, carried out by each individual trainee will be tailored to their level of experience.

The fee is discounted to £520 for Scottish based delegates due to NHS Education for Scotland support.  Non Scottish based delegates are required to pay the full fee of £750.
